As far as it is possible to estimate the cost of
work at the present moment, when prices are changing
rather rapidly, we are opinion that the construction
of the breakvater extension as proposed by us for about
700 ft. in length will cost approximately $630,000. Should
it be found necessary at a later date to fill up the angle
B with wave-breaker blocks, we satinate that if blocks to
the extent shown on the drawing were deposited the total
cost of these blocks would amount to gɔ6,000. We would

not however recommend that all the blocks should be deposit
-ed in the first instance.
11. With reference to the Forth Entrance of the
Hrbour, Stonecutter Island gives some protection in the case of westerly gales, and we understand that the same difficulties have not occurred here as at the Southern Entrance. We are very unwilling to recommend any addi - tional works at this entrance as the cost of such works, ewing to the depth of water, would be very considerable. We have, however, shown by dotted lines such works as vi consider might be necessary to fully protect this entrance, but we do not recomend that they should be carried out at present.
